I FISH NY

I FISH NY is an environmental outreach and education program that started in the Fisheries Department of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Nim was tasked by New York Sea Grant/ Cornell University to partner with the state agency to take the latest fisheries science into classrooms and to the general public in New York City.

Nim developed games and lesson plans about fish biology, fish ID, fresh and salt water ecology before taking students fishing at a local water body. Through the in-school program and free fishing clinics, Nim introduced thousands of people to the wildlife of New York City.

As a fisheries biologist, Nim conducted fieldwork, collecting data on native and invasive fish populations. She also co-authored papers and posters about the efficacy of her program.
